Fairs and congresses in Lissabon, Portugal

Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is situated in a bay at the mouth of the Tejo, in the far southwest of Europe, at the Atlantic coast on the Iberian Peninsula. The city has 545,245 inhabitants; the climate is mild both in winter and in summer. The city experienced several natural disasters like earthquakes and fires. However, the old city of Baxia with its small, medieval alleys, houses and fountains that are decorated with the famous blue tiles – the azulejos - has survived. The Torre de Belém and the Mosteiro de Jerónimos are part of the UNECSO world heritage. Other sights are the various museums, parks and theaters. Of course also the dried fish and the delicious pastels de nata should be tried.
