Initially introduced by Deutsche Lufthansa AG as a registered trademark, the name Etix has since established itself as the abbreviation for electronic ticketing. The flight is booked as usual. Frequent flyer cards, credit cards or an official photo ID can be used as proof of identification. The card/ID number is assigned to the booking. Unlike paper tickets, only payment and reservations are processed at the time of booking. The boarding pass is only issued before departure at the check-in machine or at the check-in counter at the airport. A conventional paper ticket is no longer issued.
