Stuttgart is the capital of Baden Württemberg and home to 600,000 people. Bad Cannstatt, which is renowned for its spas and one of the oldest health resorts of South Germany, is part of the city. From the central station, various neighboring European countries can be reached. The airport is situated outside of the city boundaries in the towns Filderstadt and Leinfelden-Echterdingen, but it is easily reachable by city trains leaving from the inner city. The two castles that are located at the central ‘Schlossplatz’ are frequently referred to as the Stuttgart city castle. One of them houses the Württemberg State Museum, the other one is the seat of a government department. There are two universities in Stuttgart, one of which – the University of Hohenheim – has an especially good reputation.
