Fairs and congresses in Hong Kong, China

The metropolis of Hong Kong with 7 million inhabitants was a British colony from 1843 to 1997 and is now a special administrative region of the People’s Republic of China again. The city is located on the mouth of the Pearl River into the South China Sea and extends to multiple islands and parts of the mainland. Hong Kong is one of the most significant commercial and financial centers in Asia. Its container port is the largest in the region, while the HK International Airport is even the largest cargo airport in the world as well as the home airport of some of the most important international airlines. Renowned universities and research institutions are the backbone of high-tech industries. Even though modern skyscrapers dominate the cityscape more than elsewhere, Hong Kong has developed a unique cultural mix resulting from its long colonial history: world-class restaurants and art museums emphasize this synthesis of East and West. The port as well as the vivid night markets, the two-level tram and the stunning view of the city from the 552 meters high Victoria Peak are known from numerous movies.
