Bonn is a West German city on the Rhine. One of its landmarks is the Beethoven House. The house where the composer was born in the city centre is now a memorial and museum. Nearby are the Bonn Cathedral with its Romanesque cloister and Gothic style elements, the Old City Hall with its rose-gold façade and the Poppelsdorf Castle with its Mineralogical Museum. In the south of the city is the Haus der Geschichte, which deals with contemporary history after the end of the Second World War.
